Carol Weisse

Carol Weisse is the Ronald M. Obenzinger Professor of Psychology and Director of Health Professions at Union College. She holds a PhD from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and researches systems of care for terminally ill patients, with emphasis on hospice/palliative care models and caregiver skill development.

Her research investigates symptom management (terminal agitation, delirium, pain), gender/race influences on pain treatment, and empathy development in caregivers. Recent publications analyze end-of-life experiences in hematologic malignancies and social hospice care efficacy.

She teaches Behavioral Neuroscience, Death and Dying, Health Psychology, and directs the Pre-Health Professions Program. Her community partnerships promote end-of-life care competencies through interdisciplinary collaboration.
