Professor Claire Donovan serves as Deputy Head of School (Research & Enterprise) at the University of Greenwich's School of Education within the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences. She joined in 2020 after previous positions at Brunel University London, Australian National University, Oxford University, and The Open University. Her academic credentials include a BA in Philosophy from the University of Southampton, and MA/DPhil in Social and Political Thought from the University of Sussex.
Her research focuses on higher education policy, science-society interactions, research impact assessment methodologies, and governance of humanities in science systems. She pioneered cross-disciplinary work on research evaluation, notably chairing Australia's Technical Working Group on Research Impact (2006), which influenced the UK's Research Excellence Framework.
Professor Donovan has advised governments internationally and held visiting fellowships at Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, LSE, and others. She serves as a Board Member for the Campaign for Social Science since 2015.
