ChulHee Kang is a Professor of Chemistry at Washington State University (WSU), holding affiliations with the School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering and the Biomolecular Crystallography Center. His research focuses on structural biology, cardiovascular pharmacology, biofuel production, and bioremediation. He completed his Ph.D. in Biophysics and Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, followed by postdoctoral studies at MIT and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
His work includes studies on calsequestrin’s role in calcium regulation, lignin biosynthesis in sorghum, and enzymatic degradation of pollutants like chlorophenols and EDTA. Key projects address drug interactions with calsequestrin in cardiovascular diseases, enzymatic pathways for biofuel feedstock optimization, and structural analysis of detoxification enzymes.
Publications span structural biology, enzymology, and plant biology, with recent contributions on ascorbate peroxidase activity and flavonoid pathway enzymes. His research bridges fundamental biology with applications in health and renewable energy.
