Dr. Christy James is an Associate Professor of Education at Shorter University's School of Education. She holds a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership for Higher Education from Argosy University (2013), a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University (2009), and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Education and Counseling from Grace College (1988). Her research focuses on bullying prevention strategies in education, online learning methodologies, and curriculum development. She has presented at conferences including AMLE (Austin, TX) and KCEA (Virtual), addressing topics such as blended learning, history education, and bullying intervention.
Dr. James has extensive teaching experience across institutions, including Shorter University, Liberty University, and Clearwater Christian College, where she has taught courses ranging from pedagogy and curriculum design to classroom management. She has served as a dissertation chair and committee member, advising students like Ethan Hodge and Paige Lacks. Her professional service includes roles on advisory boards and accreditation committees, contributing to educational policy and program development.
Her published work includes her dissertation on bullying prevention and the book The Gift (2002). She has also led initiatives in instructional design, transitioning thousands of courses from Blackboard to Canvas, and has trained educators in technology integration and online teaching strategies.
