Christie Smith

Dr. Christie Smith is the Dean of the College of Adult and Graduate Studies at Mid-America Christian University (MACU), where she has served since 2023. Prior to this, she joined MACU in 2019 as Curriculum Director, building on a decades-long career in higher education. Her focus areas include adult education, graduate program administration, and curriculum innovation.

Christie transitioned to MACU from Tarrant County College District, where she led online campus initiatives from 2012 to 2016. Her career began in 1991 as an adjunct instructor at Lone Star College System, progressing to full-time professor in 2001 and Online Course Development Director in 2008. She emphasizes faith in her work, quoting Psalm 139:23-24 as a guiding principle.

Outside academia, Christie lives in Edmond with her husband, Michael (a retired Air Traffic Controller teaching at the FAA Academy), two adult children, a son-in-law, two grandchildren, and two dogs. She enjoys family time, pickleball, community theater, binge-watching TV shows, and teaching toddlers at church.
