Gennifer Van Pelt is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Counseling at Liberty University's College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS), where she teaches in the counseling program. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Counselor Education and Family Studies program at Liberty University.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Christian Counseling
- Master of Arts in Professional Counseling
- Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology
Her academic and clinical work explores the impact of childhood trauma on lifelong functioning, integrating developmental psychology, trauma counseling, and clinical mental health practices. This focus shapes her teaching and private practice, where she applies insights from her research to address psychological resilience and healing.
Before counseling, Dr. Van Pelt served as enlisted aircrew in the U.S. Air Force, participating in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. She currently resides in Oklahoma with her husband (active-duty Air Force), two teenage sons, and their golden retrievers Honey and Finn.
