Christopher Hare

Christopher Hare is an Associate Professor of Corporate and Commercial Law and a Fellow of Somerville College at the University of Oxford. Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer in the Law Faculty at the University of Auckland for seven years. His academic background includes an undergraduate degree from Trinity College, Cambridge, an LLM from Harvard Law School, and a BCL from Brasenose College, Oxford.

His research and teaching focus on the law of obligations, corporate finance, shareholder remedies, and domestic/international banking law. He has practiced as a barrister at 3 Verulam Buildings and held a fellowship and lectureship at Jesus College, Cambridge.

Publications highlight his expertise in banking law, including analyses of customer duties, lender liability, and legal frameworks governing financial institutions. His work spans theoretical and applied legal issues in corporate and commercial sectors.
