Christopher Bisping is a Global Visiting Professor of Law and holds the chair of Comparative Private Law at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, Germany. He serves as Dean of the Master of Law and Business programme. Previously, he was Associate Professor at the University of Warwick (2012–2021) and held academic leadership roles including Director of Undergraduate Studies and Academic Director Postgraduate Taught. He trained in both German and Scottish legal systems, studying at the Universities of Bonn and Edinburgh. His expertise spans consumer law, commercial law, international litigation, and the intersection of law with business and language.
His research focuses on civil litigation reforms, international commercial courts, and the use of English in court proceedings. He also analyzes EU air passenger rights reforms. Bisping has taught across Europe, Asia, and Australia, emphasizing comparative legal studies and practical business law applications. His career includes roles at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative and International Private Law and external examiner positions at institutions like King’s College London and Universidad de Navarra.
Publications highlight themes like cross-jurisdictional consumer protection, energy pricing regulation, and the role of legal language in global litigation. His work bridges legal systems, advocating for adaptable frameworks in an increasingly interconnected world.
