معرفی
Christophe Fraser is the Moh Family Foundation Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Medicine and a Senior Group Leader in Pathogen Dynamics at the Pandemic Sciences Institute. His work bridges mathematical modeling, pathogen genomics, and public health policy. Previously, he held the Chair of Theoretical Epidemiology at Imperial College London (2009–2016), transitioning from a theoretical physics background (BSc Edinburgh, PhD Swansea) via a Wellcome Trust Biomathematics Fellowship (1999–2002).
- Education:
- BSc Theoretical Physics, University of Edinburgh (1994)
- PhD Theoretical Physics, Swansea University (1997)
His research focuses on pathogen dynamics, including HIV evolution, Streptococcus pneumoniae epidemiology, and pandemic preparedness. Current projects include the PRESTO initiative for vaccine trial design against CEPI-target pathogens and the Digital Pandemic Preparedness Programme for contact-tracing technologies. He also leads PANGEA-HIV (genomic diversity mapping in sub-Saharan Africa) and BEEHIVE (HIV virulence studies).
His team includes postdocs, PhD students, and software developers working on topics like digital contact tracing (Science, 2024), HIV resistance modeling (PLoS Comput Biol, 2024), and SARS-CoV-2 transmission dynamics (Nature, 2024).
- Advising & Grants:
- Supervises 5 PhD students through Oxford's multidisciplinary programs
- Funds include CEPI, Wellcome Trust, and UKRI grants for pandemic modeling
Labs/Teams: Leads the PSI Data Analytics and Epidemiology Group and collaborates with Imperial College, Oxford's Big Data Institute, and international consortia like HPTN071 PopART.
