Mahan Ghafari is a Wellcome Trust Early Career Research Fellow and Independent Investigator leading the Ghafari Research Group in the Department of Biology at the University of Oxford. He is affiliated with the Pandemic Sciences Institute and holds a position as Kemp Junior Research Fellow in Medical Sciences at Lincoln College. His research focuses on quantitative frameworks for studying molecular evolution of pathogens, integrating phylogenetics, population genetics, and structural biology to trace pathogen origins and assess outbreak risks.
