Christina Turesson is a Senior Associate Professor and Head of Unit at the Department of Health, Medicine and Caring Sciences, Linköping University. She holds academic positions since 2003, including roles as a registered occupational therapist at Linköping University Hospital and a postdoctoral researcher. Her research focuses on optimizing rehabilitation outcomes, particularly for chronic pain and hand injury patients, and enhancing return-to-work strategies through digital interventions. She leads the SWEDEwork research group, investigating sustainable work and everyday life through person-centered interventions, and contributes to the LOTS group exploring occupational therapy pedagogy.
Education: BSc in Occupational Therapy (1999, Linköping University), Doctor of Medical Science (2016). She teaches at bachelor and master’s levels in occupational therapy and medical science. Her work integrates clinical practice with digital health innovations to address barriers in rehabilitation and workplace reintegration.
Research interests span rehabilitation efficacy, occupational therapy education, and digital tools for chronic pain management. Notable contributions include developing evidence-based apps for return-to-work support and evaluating long-term outcomes of surgical interventions for hand injuries. She supervises doctoral students at Linköping University and collaborates with Karolinska Institute.
Her affiliations include the Division of Prevention, Rehabilitation and Community Medicine (PRNV), part of the interdisciplinary Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Current projects emphasize digital health applications and employer-employee collaboration in sustainable rehabilitation.
