Christina Chan is a University Distinguished Professor at Michigan State University's Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. She holds concurrent faculty appointments in the Genetics & Genome Sciences Program and Cell & Molecular Biology Program, and has served as Interim Chair of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science. Her research focuses on Systems Biology, Metabolic Profiling, Tissue Engineering, and Targeted Drug Delivery Systems, particularly examining ER stress mechanisms in diseases like diabetes, Alzheimer's, and cancer.
Her scientific contributions include 15 recent publications (2025-2022) analyzing ER stress interactions with DNA repair pathways, siRNA delivery optimization, and metabolic drivers of cancer progression. Notable awards include the 2014 William J. Beal Outstanding Faculty Award and 2012 election to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering's College of Fellows. She leads the Chan Lab, which integrates biochemical engineering with molecular pathology to develop therapeutic strategies.
