Juan Cubillos-Ruiz is an Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Weill Cornell Medicine. His research focuses on the role of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in immune cell function across cancer, autoimmunity, and infection.
- Education: BSc in Microbiology (University of Los Andes, Colombia), PhD in Immunology (Dartmouth Medical School), postdoctoral work at Harvard University and Weill Cornell under Dr. Laurie Glimcher.
- Research: Explores ER stress pathways in tumor immunology, host-microbe interactions, and immunometabolism, with projects targeting ER stress sensors for cancer immunotherapy.
Key themes in his work include ER stress regulation, immune cell metabolism, and tumor microenvironment. His recent publications highlight connections between ER stress and T cell bioenergetics, γδ T cell coordination, and lysophosphatidic acid signaling in ovarian cancer.
