Christian Vandenberghe is a Professor in the Department of Management at HEC Montréal, where he holds the Chair in the Management of Employee Commitment and Performance. His expertise spans Industrial and organizational psychology, Organizational commitment, Performance management, Employee retention, and Change and well-being in the workplace. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychological Sciences from Université catholique de Louvain.
Research Interests: Vandenberghe’s work focuses on leadership dynamics, employee engagement, workplace well-being, and the interplay between organizational practices and employee outcomes. His studies often address contemporary challenges like workaholism, managerial compassion, and the impact of organizational change on mental health.
Awards: He received the prestigious Grand Prix de recherche Pierre-Laurin 2019 from HEC Montréal, recognizing his lifetime research contributions.
Advising & Grants: He has supervised 4 PhD and 5 Master’s theses, including studies on laissez-faire leadership, overwork dynamics, and ethical leadership mechanisms. His research frequently appears in top journals like the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology and Journal of Vocational Behavior.
