Mr Chris Roukas is a Health Economist and Bowel Research UK-funded PhD student at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), based in the Wolfson Institute of Population Health and Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit. He joined QMUL in 2015, working as a Health Economist since 2017. Previously, he held roles at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine Clinical Trials Unit and managerial positions in NHS hospitals (Royal Brompton and King’s College). He holds a BA (Hons) and an MSc in Health Economics and Management from the University of Sheffield.
His research focuses on economic evaluations of healthcare interventions, particularly in chronic conditions like Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Key interests include assessing direct/indirect costs of IBD, patient-reported outcomes, mental health, and asthma-related economic impacts. His PhD examines resource use, quality of life in IBD patients, and the cost-effectiveness of online self-management tools, supervised by Prof Mihaylova.
Professional experience spans NHS management, clinical trials coordination, and health economic analysis. His work bridges clinical research and policy, emphasizing practical applications of economic evaluations in healthcare systems.
