Chris Rigby is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management (HRM) at Middlesex University, based in the Faculty of Business and Law's Strategy, Leadership & Operations department. His research focuses on reflective practice, leadership development, and the effectiveness of learning transfer in professional programs. He specializes in designing and delivering apprenticeship programs, including the Level 7 Senior Leader Apprenticeship MBA and the Level 6 Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) with Transport for London (TfL). He also teaches and facilitates Action Learning Sets for the London Ambulance Service's Management Learning & Practice programme.
Chris holds a BA (Honours) in Geography from Leeds University, an MBA from Henley Management College (2006), and a Professional Certificate in Coaching (2013). His career spans education and academia, with a focus on translating professional experience into academic qualifications for practicing managers.
His research explores e-mentoring effectiveness, public and private sector mentoring schemes, and leadership development in healthcare and education. Recent publications include studies on Tesco's financial performance, career transitions in finance, and international mentoring program evaluations. Chris actively contributes to academic conferences and collaborates with organizations like the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and the European Mentoring & Coaching Council.
