Cherie Wells

Associate Professor Cherie Wells is the Discipline Lead for Physiotherapy and a faculty member in the School of Health at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She leads the development of the new Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) program and has extensive experience in curriculum design across multiple Australian universities, including Western Sydney University, University of Canberra, Griffith University, and Charles Sturt University.

Dr. Wells holds a PhD from Western Sydney University (focused on Pilates for chronic low back pain management), a Master of Manipulative Therapy from Curtin University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) from the University of Sydney. Her research interests include musculoskeletal physiotherapy, interprofessional education, and preparing graduates for future employment.

She is actively involved in interprofessional simulation initiatives to enhance rural healthcare education and contributes to Indigenous curricula development, aiming to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges into health programs. Her work emphasizes culturally safe and inclusive education practices.
