Lisa Turner is an Associate Lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) in the School of Education and Tertiary Access. With over six years of experience across three universities—Western Sydney University, Central Queensland University, and UniSC—she specializes in diversity and inclusion, literacy support, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in education. Her work bridges tertiary and secondary education, including roles as a Research Assistant for the Marigurim Yan project, aimed at improving outcomes for Indigenous secondary students.

Lisa’s research focuses on inclusion, literacy interventions, and Indigenous educational engagement. She also explores curriculum development and pedagogy in English and Legal Studies, emphasizing student wellbeing and diversity. Her current work with the Marigurim Yan project aligns with the Closing the Gap plan, fostering community connections to elevate educational aspirations.
Lisa has held diverse roles in academia, including sessional teaching in law and mentoring at Western Sydney University, curriculum design for diversity and inclusion at Central Queensland University, and teaching English and HASS in secondary schools. She maintains a solicitor role in the NSW Supreme Court and has taught overseas in Malaysia, studied in Indonesia, and project-managed statewide educational events.
