Dr. Charlotte Potts is an Associate Professor in Etruscan and Italic Archaeology and Art at the University of Oxford, affiliated with Somerville College as a Woolley Fellow. She holds a BA (Hons) from Victoria University of Wellington, an MA from University College London, and a DPhil from the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on reconstructing beliefs, institutions, and economies of pre-Roman societies through archaeology, particularly architecture, and challenges traditional divisions between Etruscan and Roman studies. She emphasizes how buildings reveal perceptions of the divine and cult practices, with notable work on temple functions in Archaic central Italy.
