Dr Alison MacDonald is a Lecturer in Archaeology and Interim Director at the University of Oxford's Department for Continuing Education (OUDCE). She serves as Director of Undergraduate Studies and oversees academic provision, compliance with university policies, and student support.
- Education: BA in Classical Civilisation and Ancient History (University of Sheffield, 1989), DPhil in Classical Archaeology (University of Oxford, 2003)
Her research focuses on Roman landscape archaeology and ceramics, with fieldwork in central Italy. Recent work explores Roman urban life, material culture, and identity expression through object biographies. She contributes to projects like the Tuscania Archaeological Survey and Sangro Valley Survey.
Selected publications include collaborative works on Etruscan landscapes (2023) and leadership in arts repatriation (2022). She actively engages with Oxford Archaeology as a Board of Trustees member.
