Charlotte Lawson is a Lecturer in the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), University of London. As a founding member of the UK Extracellular Vesicle Forum and Treasurer of the Royal Society of Biology's Membership and Professional Affairs Committee, she specializes in vascular inflammation, leukocyte-endothelial cell interactions, and extracellular vesicle biology.
- Research areas: Extracellular vesicle production, vascular immunology, adhesion molecule signaling
- Collaborations: Miss Janice Tsui (Royal Free Hospital), Dr Lindsay Bottoms (University of Hertfordshire)
- Teaching: Cell biology, cardiovascular/respiratory physiology, module leader for Biology of The Cell
Her work utilizes innovative methodologies including parallel plate flow chambers, adenovirus transfection, and primary endothelial cell culture. Awards include a British Heart Foundation Intermediate Fellowship (2001).
Recent publications highlight her contributions to extracellular vesicle characterization (2016), vascular inflammation mechanisms (2017), and milk-derived vesicle effects on immune cells (2014). Articles demonstrate expertise in flow cytometry, in vitro disease modeling, and immunomodulation.
Scientific Awards:
- British Heart Foundation Intermediate Fellowship (2001)
Lawson supervises undergraduate and master's research projects, while also contributing to outreach initiatives like "Lab in a Bag" for school-level science engagement.
