Cassandra Atherton is a Deakin Distinguished Professor and Associate Head of School (Research) at Deakin University's School of Communication and Creative Arts. An internationally recognized scholar and poet, she specializes in prose poetry, ekphrasis, and atomic bomb literature. Atherton has held visiting positions at Harvard University and Sophia University, Tokyo, and serves as commissioning editor for Westerly magazine.
