Alyson Miller is a Senior Lecturer at Deakin University's School of Communication and Creative Arts. As Course Director for the Master of Arts (Writing and Literature) and Honours Coordinator, her research focuses on scandalous literature, prose poetry, and feminist literary studies.
Her work explores representations of trauma and extremity across genres, including nuclear memorialisation in hibakusha poetry, antiheroines in contemporary television, and the ethics of autobiographical hoaxes. Miller examines how literary forms negotiate cultural taboos and societal boundaries.
Recent publications analyze Australian Gothic prose poetry, dark poetics of anti-elegy, and subversive femininities in popular culture. She supervises postgraduate research on gender representation and literary transgression.
