Roslyn Irving is Lecturer in English Literature and Culture at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Her research examines literary forms across eighteenth-century poetry/prose, Romanticism, and Gothic traditions, with additional focus on postcolonial reinterpretations of canonical forms. She contributes to interdisciplinary networks including the British Association for Romantic Studies (BARS), HistoryLab+, and Haunted Shores.
Teaching encompasses foundational courses in literary studies (PS115), genre-focused introductions (PS122: Poetry/Drama), and specialized seminars on Gothic literary traditions across eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Postcolonial theories and contemporary literatures feature in advanced seminars (Seminar 522), alongside cultural studies examining regional histories like Cornwall's industrial-tourism transition.
Thesis supervision supports undergraduate and graduate research on Romanticism, Gothic literature, and postcolonial approaches. Recent publications appear in the Routledge Introduction to Poetic Forms, Litteraria Pragensia, and Nordic Journal of English Studies.
