Dr. Jim Shanahan is a Professor in the School of English at Dublin City University (DCU), specializing in eighteenth- and nineteenth-century literature with a focus on Irish historical fiction. He holds a B.A. (Hons) in Modern History and English Literature from the University of Oxford (1997), an M.Phil in Anglo-Irish Literature from Trinity College Dublin (1998), and a Ph.D. from TCD (2006). His research explores the intersection of history, memory, and fiction, with particular emphasis on the 1798 Rebellion, the Gothic tradition, and the history of sport.

His work frequently bridges historical events and literary representation, particularly in postcolonial contexts.
