Margaret Kelleher is Full Professor and Chair of Anglo-Irish Literature and Drama at the School of English, Drama and Film, University College Dublin. She is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy (MRIA) and has held visiting fellowships at New York University, the New York Public Library, and Magdalene College, University of Cambridge. She is academic lead in the foundation of the Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI), a major public humanities collaboration with the National Library of Ireland.
Her research spans 19th-century Irish literature, famine studies, Irish women's writing, contemporary fiction, and digital humanities. She has led significant interdisciplinary projects, including the development of the Electronic Version of the Loeber Guide to Irish Fiction and the Digital Platform for Contemporary Irish Writing.
Her recent publications include Technology in Irish Literature and Culture (2023) and The Maamtrasna Murders (2018), which won the Michael J. Durkan Prize. Her scholarly work demonstrates an evolving engagement with digital methodologies and transnational cultural exchange.

She has supervised numerous PhD students on topics ranging from digital humanities to Irish Gothic and women’s writing. She has secured major research grants, including PRTLI funding for digital arts and humanities. Margaret was founding director of An Foras Feasa at Maynooth University and has served on the boards of the Irish Film Institute, Irish Theatre Institute, and the International Association for the Study of Irish Literatures.
She leads several digital literary projects and is a key figure in advancing public humanities in Ireland through institutional and international collaborations.
