Casey Hrynkow

Casey Hrynkow is a Sessional Lecturer at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, teaching Core Studio in Communication Design (COMD 410) and actively involved in academic design education. She concurrently serves as Senior Design Strategist at Ion Brand Design in Vancouver, specializing in strategic branding for corporate, First Nations, and non-profit organizations. Prior to Ion, she co-founded Herrainco Brand Strategy + Design, a firm with over 35 years of experience.

Educational background includes a B.Des in Communication Design from Emily Carr University and a Certificate in Innovation Leadership from the California College of the Arts (2013). She is completing an MA in Liberal Studies (expected Spring 2019), with thesis research exploring how design methodologies can reshape public perceptions of homelessness.

Her research interests focus on intersectional topics including food systems sustainability, urban village models, and socially responsible design practices. Professional accolades include being named a Fellow of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (2011).

Previously, she chaired the advisory committee for Kwantlen University College’s design program and maintained adjunct teaching roles. Current engagements emphasize design’s role in addressing systemic social issues through innovative frameworks.
