Alex Hass

Alex Hass is a Lecturer at the Ian Gillespie Faculty of Design + Dynamic Media Faculty, Emily Carr University. Her creative practice explores intersections between nature and technology, focusing on art direction, brand design, and visual communication. She holds degrees from Alberta College of Art and Design, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, and Emily Carr University (Masters in Applied Art, Media stream).

Her research interests include multidisciplinary art practices, design education, and the application of graphic design in cultural and urban contexts. Notable projects include the 'UBC Physics Energy Series' (2013), which simplified physics concepts for high school audiences, and the 'Maraya' exhibition design (2012), analyzing urban development parallels between Vancouver and Dubai.

Alex has taught design courses at Emily Carr University, Simon Fraser University, and BCIT for 18 years, emphasizing interdisciplinary and professional practice. Her work spans publications like 'War Zones' (2007) and 'Whispered Art History' (1993), reflecting her commitment to art documentation and cultural exploration.
