Professor Caroline Miller is an NHMRC Externally-Funded Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide's School of Public Health, within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. She leads the Health Policy Centre at SAHMRI and holds roles as President of the Public Health Association of Australia and Board Member of Obesity Australia. Her research focuses on tobacco control, food policy and obesity prevention, and health communication campaigns. She has advised governments on preventive health policies, including Australia's plain packaging laws for tobacco. During the pandemic, her team provided strategic advice for national health responses. Miller is eligible to supervise Honours, Masters, and PhD students in public health policy and behavioral science.
Her work combines population-level interventions with policy advocacy. Key areas include ultra-processed foods, sugary beverages, and consumer labeling systems. She has contributed to international legal defenses of public health policies and led research programs funded by NHMRC. Miller’s expertise spans social marketing campaigns, such as anti-smoking initiatives and maternal health programs.
