Dr. Neha Khandpur is a Lecturer in the Department of Human Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University & Research. Her research focuses on the association between diet and chronic diseases, with a particular emphasis on ultra-processed food consumption and its impact on cardiometabolic health. She employs epidemiological, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches to study dietary patterns, consumer behavior, and intervention strategies.
Dr. Khandpur holds an MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Public Health from the University of Bristol, UK, and a ScD in Obesity Epidemiology and Public Health Nutrition from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, USA. She contributes to international initiatives such as the INFORMAS network, focusing on food retail and labeling policies.
Her research interests include evaluating strategies to promote healthy food choices, analyzing the relationship between ultra-processed foods and conditions like hypertension, cancer, and depression, and designing effective health communication campaigns. Key areas of investigation involve dietary assessment tools, policy interventions, and global health disparities.
Dr. Khandpur’s work extends to collaborative projects on front-of-package labeling, food insecurity, and the biodiversity implications of ultra-processed food systems.
