Dr Caroline Hemingray is an Associate Professor in Fashion Marketing and Colour and Deputy Head of School (Organisational and Development) at the University of Leeds' School of Design. She leads the MA Fashion Enterprise and Society programme and teaches postgraduate research methods. Her expertise spans virtual fashion, data-driven colour forecasting, and textile sustainability. She has collaborated with industry partners like Amphico and Unilever, and led projects funded by ESRC and the Future Fashion Factory. Her research addresses challenges in the UK fashion and textile industry, including Brexit and pandemic impacts, and explores colour's non-visual effects in space habitats and interior design.
Education: PhD in Colour Prediction for Sustainable Fibre Blending (University of Leeds); BA (Hons) in Textile Design (University of Leeds). Professional memberships include the Higher Education Academy and The Textile Institute.
Research focuses on virtual fashion innovation, colour forecasting in the metaverse, and environmental colour applications. Recent studies include space habitat lighting psychology and 3D-printed object color accuracy. She has supervised postgraduate researchers and contributed to interdisciplinary projects with Leeds University Business School and the University of the Arts London.
