معرفی
Carolina Guibentif is a Researcher at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. Her research focuses on identifying genes and mechanisms influencing prenatal cancers through single-cell analysis. She leads a team developing a developmental biology 'atlas' to map genetic changes during prenatal life, aiming to identify biomarkers for early cancer detection in newborns. Her work integrates mouse models, cell cultures, and human developmental data to study blood formation and leukemia progression.
Education: BSc in Molecular Biology (Lisbon, Portugal), MSc and PhD from Lund University. Postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge (UK), where she contributed to seminal studies on single-cell analysis of mammalian development. Notable publications include work in Nature on mouse embryo analysis.
Grants & Awards:
- SEK 15M grant from SSF (2020–2025) for strategic research on prenatal cancer mechanisms
- Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund research position
- Named 'Research Leader of the Future' by SSF (2020)
Research Goals: Establish clinical collaborations to translate findings into precision medicine therapies for childhood cancers. Expanding her team at Sahlgrenska Academy to grow interdisciplinary efforts in developmental genomics and disease modeling.
Labs/Teams: Currently building a research group focused on single-cell technologies and developmental systems biology. Collaborates with clinical researchers to maintain translational relevance.
