Rossella Crescitelli is a Professor at the University of Gothenburg, affiliated with the Institute of Clinical Sciences and the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research. Her research focuses on extracellular vesicles (EVs) in cancer biology, particularly their roles in tumor microenvironment communication and cancer progression. She leads a team investigating EV-mediated mechanisms in melanoma, ovarian, pancreatic, breast, and lung cancers.
Her research innovations include breakthrough methods for isolating highly purified tissue-derived EVs, as well as 3D tomographic reconstructions of tumor microenvironments. She utilizes advanced tools like the Krumdieck slicer for tissue slice cultures and cutting-edge proteomic analyses.
Rossella has secured a SEK 6 million starting grant and contributed to over 30 publications. Her group includes Postdoctoral Fellow Elodie Barthout and MSc student Camilla Locatelli. Current research emphasizes EV subpopulation dynamics, reproducibility in EV studies, and synthetic bacterial vesicles for immunotherapy.
