Her work bridges literary analysis with civic engagement through service-learning initiatives.

- Fellow, Center for Children and Childhood Studies
She has secured major research funding from the New Jersey Council on the Humanities, National Science Foundation, American Antiquarian Association, Center for Critical Analysis of Contemporary Culture (Rutgers University), and Bildner Intercultural Fund (two grants for multicultural children's literature development). Leadership roles encompass presidencies of the Northeast Modern Language Association, Northeast Modern Language Association Women’s Caucus, and Edith Wharton Society.
Actively engaged with Camden's community, she serves on the Walt Whitman Association board, judges their annual High School Poetry Contest, and developed the undergraduate "Literature of Childhood" course featuring service-learning components where students read to children in afterschool programs.
