Myrto Drizou is an Associate Professor of English and American Literature at Nord University’s Faculty of Education and Arts. She holds MA and PhD degrees in Comparative Literature from SUNY Buffalo, an MA in Politics from Warwick University, and a BA in English and Greek Language from the University of Athens. Her research focuses on 19th- and 20th-century American literature, with specializations in realism, naturalism, women’s literature, and Edith Wharton studies. She is President of the International Edith Wharton Society (2023–25) and Associate Editor of the Edith Wharton Review.
Teaching roles include coordinating courses like Women’s Literature—Mobility, Identity, and Change and American Literature and Culture for Teacher Education. She has taught extensively in the U.S. and Turkey, covering American/British literature, academic writing, and seminars on realism/naturalism.
Her research explores intersections of literature, identity, and culture. Current projects include a book on archaeology and literature in American culture. She is a member of Nord University’s Humanities, Education and Culture Research Group.
Publications span edited collections, peer-reviewed articles, and journal special issues, including New Perspectives on Mary E. Wilkins Freeman (2023) and articles on Edith Wharton’s global influences and regionalist fiction.
