Herringer's research investigates the intersections of religion, gender, and culture in Victorian Britain, with additional focus on Early Modern/Modern British history and decorative arts. She currently develops a book project analyzing Eucharistic debates in the Church of England (1830-1929), extending her established expertise in Marian symbolism and Anglican expansion.
Her publication trajectory reveals consistent engagement with religious symbolism in 19th-century British society, particularly examining how theological controversies shaped cultural identity across imperial and domestic contexts. This work bridges gender studies, ecclesiastical history, and material culture analysis.
Scientific Awards:
- President of the Midwest Conference on British Studies (2008-2010)
- Learning Communities Award for Outstanding Faculty Commitment to First Year Learning Community (2006)
