Carmen M. Kiraly is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Long Island University's School of Nursing, Brooklyn Campus, with a PhD in Nursing Research from Duquesne University (2019). Previously, she taught full-time at a nursing program on Long Island (2000-2019). Her research focuses on maternal-infant health, obesity prevention in Latino youth, and health policy advocacy.

Her work employs ecological frameworks to examine maternal factors influencing Salvadoran infants’ weight status and broader health disparities. She bridges academic-practice gaps through breastfeeding education and quality and safety initiatives (QSEN).
In publications, she analyzes health policy roles for DNPs and advocates for vulnerable populations, including human trafficking prevention. Key journals include Hispanic Health Care International and Annual Review of Nursing Research.
