Cansu Bostan is a Research Fellow at Lund University's Department of Sociology of Law and holds a visiting fellowship at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg's Institute for Social and Cultural Anthropology. Her research focuses on diaspora mobilization, postcolonial studies, and ethnographic inquiries into law and justice. She completed her PhD in Sociology of Law at Lund University (2022), MA at the Oñati International Institute for the Sociology of Law, and BSc in Sociology from Middle East Technical University, Turkey.
Her current project, funded by the Swedish Research Council, examines the Yazidi diaspora’s legal and political mobilization in Sweden and Germany post-Yazidi Genocide. This multi-sited ethnography explores diasporization as a dynamic mobilization strategy, integrating Foucault’s counter-conduct theories with legal frameworks.
Key research areas include transnational justice, colonial legacies, and the interplay between international law and lived experiences. Her work bridges sociology of law, anthropology, and postcolonial theory.
