Camellia Bryan is an Assistant Professor in the Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources Division at UBC Sauder School of Business (University of British Columbia). She holds a PhD and BA from York University, following a post-doctoral fellowship at the Rotman School of Management and Gender and the Economy (GATE) Institute in Toronto. Her research focuses on understanding resistance to diversity initiatives in organizations, exploring cognitive/emotional/social processes behind backlash, and designing interventions to foster inclusion. Key interests include stigma, identity management, diversity training, and intergroup relations.
Her work emphasizes leveraging 'remarkable events'—attention-grabbing experiences that challenge entrenched beliefs—to create transformative openness toward diversity. Recent articles address topics like identity threat mitigation, disability inclusion dynamics, and neuroqueerness in management contexts. Courses taught include Organizational Behaviour (BCom program).
Research outputs span prestigious journals such as Academy of Management Review and Journal of Management, with forthcoming contributions to diversity management literature.
