Dr. Caitlin Kane is an Assistant Professor of Theatre History at the School of Theatre and Dance, part of the College of the Arts at Kent State University. Her work bridges theater and social change, with a focus on feminist, gender, and sexuality studies. She holds a Ph.D. in Performing and Media Arts from Cornell University, with minors in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Directing.
Education: Ph.D. in Performing and Media Arts with minors in Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Directing from Cornell University.
Research Interests: Dr. Kane’s research examines the intersection of theater and social change. Her current projects include Performing Uncertainty, which explores how research-based performance can inform collective knowledge practices in the post-truth era, and Queering the Heartland, analyzing LGBTQ+ performance’s impact on Midwestern queer cultures.
