Caitlin Body serves as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Theatre at the School of Communication, bringing professional expertise as an equity stage manager to her academic role.
Education:
- BFA in Theatre Arts, The Theatre School at DePaul University
Her research and professional focus centers on stage management practices, equity in the performing arts, and the integration of professional theatre experience into academic training. Body has extensive credits as Primary Stage Manager for productions at major Chicago venues including Compass Theatre, Porchlight Theater, Writers Theatre, and Chicago Shakespeare, with notable works such as Wellesley Girl, Nunsense, and MLK Project. She is a founding member of Stage Managers of Color – Chicago, an organization dedicated to advancing diversity and inclusion in stage management.
Body's work emphasizes experiential learning, practical application of theatre production techniques, and fostering inclusive environments in both educational and professional theatre settings.
