Bryce Thompson serves as Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Columbia International University since 2019, dedicated to achieving musical excellence through meticulous attention to detail and heartfelt performances while fostering a culture where students value the rehearsal process, the music, and their fellow musicians.
His educational background includes:
- Master of Arts in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University
- Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Indiana Wesleyan University
Thompson specializes in choral conducting and music education with expertise in enhancing personal musicianship, dynamic singing, tonal color expansion, and vocal energy across all age groups. His pedagogical focus includes innovative approaches to sightreading, conducting techniques, vowel formation, and phonetics, creating engaging learning environments for diverse ensembles.
Under his direction, choirs have performed at globally significant venues including St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, and the Basilica of the National Shrine in Washington D.C., while collaborating with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Grammy-winning artist Eric Church. His ensembles have also presented at professional conferences such as ACDA and MSVMA.
