Dr. Richard Schnipke is an Associate Professor of Music Performance and Director of Choral Activities at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). He conducts the Collegiate Chorale and Men’s Chorus, and teaches graduate courses in choral repertoire and conducting. Previously, he held faculty positions at Xavier University and The Ohio State University, alongside 15 years as a public-school choral director. His academic credentials include degrees from BGSU and The Ohio State University, with additional studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Schnipke’s choirs have performed at national and regional conferences of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA), and Ohio Choral Directors Association (OCDA). They’ve also participated in events for the American Musicological Society and IMC: The Tenor-Bass Choral Consortium. He regularly prepares choruses for the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and presents on integrating Dalcroze Eurhythmics in choral rehearsals.
Professionally, he served as tenor section leader for Cincinnati’s Vocal Arts Ensemble (a Grammy Award-winning group) and held leadership roles including Past-President of OCDA and National Board member of the National Collegiate Choral Organization. Currently, he sits on IMC’s board.
