Bryan D. McCloskey

Bryan D. McCloskey is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, College of Engineering. He holds the Chair of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and the Warren and Katharine Schlinger Distinguished Professorship in Chemical Engineering.

Research Interests
His laboratory focuses on fundamental processes in electrochemical systems, particularly batteries and electrocatalysis. Key areas include addressing material challenges in rechargeability and rate capability for high-energy-density chemistries (e.g., lithium/oxygen and lithium/sulfur batteries), electrocatalysis for oxygen and carbon dioxide reduction, and molecular/ionic transport in polymers. The group employs state-of-the-art techniques to characterize multi-phase interfaces, aiming to inform the design of improved energy storage systems, electrocatalysts, and corrosion-resistant materials.
