Dr. Bruno Silvestre is the Dean of the I.H. Asper School of Business and CPA Manitoba Chair in Business Leadership at the University of Manitoba, where he also holds a Professorship in Supply Chain Management. He has held leadership roles such as Associate Dean, Director of the Transport Institute, and acting Department Head. His research focuses on sustainable supply chain management and supply chain learning, addressing issues like environmental/social responsibility, corruption prevention, and collaborative innovation. He has taught globally in operations, supply chain, and sustainability at undergraduate to PhD levels. With 15+ years in industry prior to academia, he has experience in energy, mining, manufacturing, and tech sectors, specializing in operations/supply chain management and project management.
His research explores sustainability integration in supply chains, including ethical practices (e.g., combating forced labor, conflict minerals) and learning mechanisms for operational excellence. Recent work addresses pandemic healthcare resource planning and supply chain corruption circumventing sustainability standards. He serves on editorial boards for top journals like the International Journal of Operations and Production Management. His industry collaborations and academic leadership reflect a commitment to bridging theory and practice.
Key contributions include frameworks for sustainable supply chain trajectories and learning processes, as well as studies on small enterprises' sustainability challenges. His work emphasizes systemic approaches to address socio-environmental issues in global supply chains.
