Bruna Bosi Moreira

Dr. Bruna Bosi Moreira is a Scientific Associate at the Institute of Political Science of Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) since February 2024, working under the Professorship for International Politics and Political Economy. Prior to this position, she served as a Postdoc Research Fellow at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Centre for Global Cooperation Research at the University of Duisburg-Essen from October 2022 to January 2024.

Dr. Moreira holds dual PhDs completed in 2022 through a cotutelle arrangement: one in Political Science from the University of Duisburg-Essen and another in International Relations from the University of Brasilia. She also earned a Master's degree in International Relations from São Paulo State University in 2017 and a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Federal University of Santa in 2015.

Her research focuses on energy security, policy, and geopolitics; global climate policy and cooperation; the global energy transition and clean energy technologies; China's rise and great power politics; world order; security policy; and international political economy. Dr. Moreira's scholarly work demonstrates a strong interdisciplinary approach bridging energy studies with international relations and political economy, with particular attention to how energy resources shape international relations and geopolitical dynamics.

Analysis of Dr. Moreira's publications reveals a consistent scholarly trajectory examining energy geopolitics, great power competition, and international order. Her work spans from US foreign policy analysis to energy security in the Caspian region and Brazil's relations with Central Asia. Her more recent publications increasingly focus on China's role in the global energy transition and renewable energy sector, examining how emerging powers are reshaping international energy governance and cooperation frameworks.

Dr. Moreira has substantial teaching experience across multiple institutions, having taught Introduction to International Relations at the University of Brasilia in 2019, served as a teaching assistant for Theory of International Relations in 2018, and taught Contemporary International Relations at the Federal University of ABC in 2016. She has presented her research at numerous international conferences including the International Studies Association Annual Convention, the International Political Science Association World Congress, and the British International Studies Association Conference.
