Elizaveta Priupolina is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of East Asian Studies (IN-EAST) and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Her research focuses on Chinese foreign policy, Sino-Russian relations, and the analysis of Chinese media narratives. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the same institution, completing a project titled Changing Patterns of Sino-Russian Strategic Partnership: Mutual Perceptions and Strategic Debates. Currently, she contributes to the DFG-funded project Role Change and Role Contestation in the People’s Republic of China: Globalization of “Chinese” Concepts of Order?, led by Prof. Nele Noesselt.
Her work critically examines how China constructs its global role identity through state media (e.g., CCTV documentaries) and how Sino-Russian strategic interactions evolve in response to geopolitical shifts. She combines theoretical frameworks from international relations, political sociology, and media analysis to explore themes such as soft power, ideological discourse, and geopolitical rivalry.
Her publications span topics from analyzing Chinese self-image narratives to dissecting Russian academic perspectives on Sino-Russian relations. She maintains an active research agenda on global governance, nationalism, and the evolution of authoritarian political systems in East Asia.
Elizaveta’s professional affiliations include IN-EAST and membership in collaborative research teams focused on China’s role in global order. She is reachable at elizaveta.priupolina@uni-due.de and located in Room LE 615 at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
