Britt Drögemöller is an Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair in Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine at the University of Manitoba, affiliated with the Max Rady College of Medicine and the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics. She leads the Drögemöller Lab, with research affiliations at the Children's Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) and CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute.
- PhD in Genetics, Stellenbosch University (2013)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, University of British Columbia
Her research centers on precision medicine, leveraging genomics and bioinformatics to uncover the genetic underpinnings of human disease, with a focus on pediatric and maternal populations. The lab investigates drug-induced and age-related hearing loss using innovative single-cell and spatial transcriptomics technologies. Her work aims to improve diagnosis and treatment for both rare and common diseases through pharmacogenomics.
Dr. Drögemöller's research program is supported by her Canada Research Chair and involves large-scale genomic analyses to benefit patients who have been traditionally overlooked. She is actively recruiting graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
- Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine (2020-2025)
- Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow (2021)
She advises graduate students in genomics and bioinformatics and leads a research team focused on hearing loss and dementia. Her lab is part of the Precision Genomics Suite and contributes to collaborative research themes like the PROMISE (Pediatric Research in Oncology in Manitoba: Innovation, Science, Excellence) initiative at CHRIM.
