Cedric Tremblay is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Immunology at the University of Manitoba's Max Rady College of Medicine. He is also a Principal Investigator at the Paul Albrechtsen Research Institute (CancerCare Manitoba) and the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM). His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving blood cancers, particularly leukemia, with an emphasis on hematopoietic stem cells and their role in therapy resistance. His work integrates bulk and single-cell multi-omic techniques to study the bone marrow microenvironment and identify therapeutic targets.
Dr. Tremblay holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Laval University (2008), an MSc from the same institution (2004), and a BSc in Biochemistry (2002). He has received prestigious awards, including the Terry Fox Foundation Fellowship (2009) and the Leukemia Foundation of Australia Grant-in-Aid (2015). His research has led to breakthroughs in understanding leukemia stem cell dormancy and the role of inflammatory pathways in high-risk leukemia subtypes.
His current research explores how the bone marrow microenvironment influences leukemia progression and relapse, with a focus on developing precision therapies to overcome chemoresistance. He collaborates internationally and has pioneered studies on the use of hematopoietic stem cells in neurorepair for multiple sclerosis models. Dr. Tremblay is not currently accepting students but actively mentors junior researchers through his lab and collaborative networks.
