معرفی
Jiwang Zhang, MD, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Loyola University Chicago. His research focuses on understanding molecular signals in the bone marrow microenvironment that regulate hematopoiesis and hematopoietic disorders. He employs cutting-edge techniques including RNA sequencing, CRISPR screening, and in vivo models to identify therapeutic targets for leukemia and bone marrow failure.
Education:
- MD, Lanzhou Medical College, China
- PhD, Shanghai Institute of Hematology, Shanghai, China
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, Stowers Institute for Medical Research
His research interests span hematopoiesis, stem cell self-renewal, bone marrow microenvironment dynamics, and cell signaling pathways. Recent work has explored TET proteins' roles in normal and pathological hematopoiesis and the mechanisms underlying drug resistance in myeloma.
Publications highlight translational research goals such as developing targeted therapies for drug-resistant leukemia and leveraging tumor microenvironment insights to improve immunotherapy efficacy. His lab's work emphasizes bridging basic science discoveries with clinical applications through patient sample analysis and xenograft models.
Research activities include investigating fetal-to-adult hematopoietic transitions in pediatric cancers, c-Myc's role in stem cell maintenance, and aging-related changes in hematopoietic niches. Collaborative efforts focus on enhancing antitumor immunity via R-spondin signaling pathways.
